** City Clerk's Office to Host an Early Voting Center
------------------------------------------------------------

The City Clerk’s Office will host an Early Voting Center (EVC) for this fall's election. A grand opening of the EVC will take place at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. Speakers will include State Rep. Penelope Tsernoglou, East Lansing Mayor Ron Bacon, Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum and East Lansing Interim City Clerk Marie Wicks.

Proposal 2022-2 established a minimum of nine days of early voting for statewide and federal elections. Although local clerks are not required to implement early voting until the 2024 presidential primary, nor are they required to host an EVC for local elections, the City of East Lansing is piloting this year’s EVC with the support of the Bureau of Elections as a trial run before the three elections to be held in 2024.

The EVC will be open at the ELPL from Monday, Oct. 30-Saturday, Nov. 4. Regular polling locations are open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. on Election Day (Nov. 7). Voters can visit https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Voter/Index to find out where they vote and view their sample ballot.

** 54-B District Court Employees Fundraise for Breast Cancer Awareness
------------------------------------------------------------

This month, 54-B District Court employee Alaysha Turnley coordinated a fundraiser for 54-B District Court employees to raise awareness for breast cancer. Breast cancer has personally impacted a few court employees. Alaysha set a fundraising goal of $100. She more than doubled her goal by raising $250 with 100% participation. Alaysha created a fun way for court staff to get involved by asking each court division to bring pink treats every Wednesday. Staff was allowed to wear blue jeans on Wednesdays in consideration of their donation. The money raised will be donated to the East Lansing chapter of the American Cancer Society. Thank you, Alaysha!
