** East Lansing Winter Property Taxes Due Wednesday, Feb. 14
------------------------------------------------------------

East Lansing property owners are reminded that winter property taxes are due on Wednesday, Feb. 14. Please note that the date published in the City’s annual calendar is not correct. The City sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this error may have caused the City’s taxpayers.

Property taxes that are not paid by Wednesday, Feb. 14 will incur a 3% penalty. All unpaid real property taxes will be sent to Ingham and Clinton counties on March 1, at which time additional penalties will be applied. For questions, call (517) 319-6860.

Several payment options are available for those property owners making property tax payments on or before Feb. 14:
* Online: Credit card and e-check payments can be made online by visiting www.cityofeastlansing.com/paymentoptions.
* By Mail: Payments can be mailed to East Lansing Treasury, 410 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823.
* In Person: Payment can be made at the Treasury windows inside City Hall, 410 Abbot Road, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
* After Hours Drop Box: Payments can be deposited in the blue drop box in the north parking lot of East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road.

** All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre's “The Addams Family” Opens Tonight!
------------------------------------------------------------

All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre (AECT) is pleased to present “The Addams Family” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 and Friday, Feb. 9, as well as at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 3-4 and Feb. 10-11. The performances will be held in the Albert A. White Performing Arts Theater at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road.

In this production of “The Addams Family,” Wednesday Addams has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s normal boyfriend and his parents.

Tickets are $8 for youth (17 and under) and $12 for adults (18 and older). Purchase tickets at the ELHCC Box Office by calling (517) 333-2580 ext. 0 or by going online to www.cityofeastlansing.com/allofus.


** Community Members and Their Little Sweethearts Invited to Attend Annual Ball
------------------------------------------------------------

Community members are invited to attend the East Lansing Parks, Recreation and Arts (ELPRA) Department’s annual Sweetheart Ball to enjoy activities such as a DJ and dancing, snacks and refreshments, an interactive photo booth, a craft table and more. Attendees have their choice of either Wednesday, Feb. 7 or Thursday, Feb. 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road.

Advanced registration is highly recommended by visiting in person at the front desk of the ELHCC, calling (517) 333-2580 ext. 0 or going online at https://bit.ly/3XVB1iE.

Semiformal or dressy attire is recommended for this special night. The cost of attending the Sweetheart Ball is $15 per person.

Registrations for the Sweetheart Ball are eligible for ELPRA’s Round Up for Scholarships program (https://cityofeastlansing-scholarships-parks-rec-and-arts.app.transform.civicplus.com/forms/35798) . ** Presidential Primary Election on Feb. 27 with Two Early Voting Center Locations Feb. 17-25
------------------------------------------------------------

The East Lansing City Clerk’s office is gearing up for the Presidential Primary Election on February 27. The Clerk's Office will operate two Early Voting Centers (EVC), which will open on Saturday, Feb. 17 and run through Sunday, Feb. 25 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. each day. Voters will have their choice of two locations for early voting: 405 Grove Street with parking available in the City Hall lot on Linden Street or the STEM building, 642 Red Cedar Road on the campus of Michigan State University.

If voting by absentee ballot in the Presidential Primary, voters must submit a selection form indicating whether they are voting Democratic or Republican. This is required only for the Presidential Primary election. The selection form has been mailed to permanent absentee voters and is also now available for voters to fill out online at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/AVApplication/Index (https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/AVApplication/Index?fbclid=IwAR27_ZW4GSrVJArLA7ZEilu82y0ioPDtKeX7c7EWUMl6E1QXqXalHZTyC9o) . In order to use the online form, a voter must have a valid Michigan driver’s license or state ID, and have not yet filled out the mailed form.

** Nominate Someone for the City of East Lansing's Crystal Awards by Monday, Feb. 19
------------------------------------------------------------
Nominations are now open for the City of East Lansing’s Crystal Awards. Hosted by the East Lansing City Council, the Crystal Awards program honors those who strive to make the City a more welcoming place to live, work and do business. Since it was created in 1988, over 130 awards have been presented to individual community members, business owners and community groups.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Monday, Feb. 19. There are four categories: Community; Business; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging; and Spirit of East Lansing. Previous winners have included coaches, representatives of neighborhood associations, volunteers, and local businesses among many others.

The East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) will host a retirement party for beloved Community Development Specialist Phyllis Thode on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 3-5 p.m. at the ELPL, 950 Abbot Road. Come celebrate and wish Phyllis the best!


** Children's Cultural Concert Series

The City of East Lansing is excited to celebrate diversity by hosting a Children's Cultural Concert Series, which will feature three Saturdays of live musical entertainment for children of all ages. ** ELPD Record Bureau Closed Feb. 5-9 for Remodel

The ELPD Record Bureau will be closed from Monday, Feb. 5 – Friday, Feb. 9 for an office remodel. Staff will be available by phone or email only during this time. The Records Department will resume regular office hours on Monday, Feb. 12.

** Certified Arborist Andy Gordon Joins City of East Lansing's Environmental Team

The City's environmental team is growing with the addition of Andy Gordon, the first on-staff certified arborist. Andy's job includes coordination of the City's street tree care and planting program.
