** Election Day is Coming: Early Voting Happening Now
------------------------------------------------------------
The City continues to operate two Early Voting Centers (EVC) through Sunday, Nov. 3. These polling locations are available for anyone eligible to vote in the City of East Lansing, regardless of regular polling location. One is on campus at WKAR studios in the Communication Arts & Sciences Building and operates daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The other location is at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road, and operates daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Community members can register to vote and tabulate their ballot on the same day at an EVC.
** “With the passage of new laws to make voting more accessible to everyone, we consider Election Day now the last day of voting,” said East Lansing City Clerk Marie Wicks.
------------------------------------------------------------
Absentee Ballots
Community members can obtain an absentee ballot over the counter at the East Lansing City Clerk's office inside City Hall, 410 Abbot Road. They can return their ballot to the City Clerk's staff, put it in a drop box inside City Hall or use one of the four drop box locations throughout the City: North Parking Lot of City Hall; East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road; Department of Public Works, 1800 E. State Road; or the MSU-CATA Transportation Center on campus at 592 N. Shaw Lane. Another option is to tabulate the absentee ballot at an Early Voting Center.
Transportation
CATA is offering free rides to vote. Riders should simply inform their bus driver upon boarding that they are going to vote. For all the details, visit https://www.cata.org/vote.
Election Day
If a voter, or potential voter, is waiting for Election Day to cast their ballot, they are highly encouraged to review their polling location at michigan.gov/vote (https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/) . The City will offer free rides via Uber or Lyft to voters who find themselves in the wrong location on Election Day. Although some addresses say "East Lansing" their polling location may actually be in Meridian, Bath or Lansing township.
The City is also pleased to offer two Election Day Vote Centers for people who need same-day voter registration. These are being offered at WKAR's studio (same location as the EVC) and City Hall. On Election Day, City Hall will have limited entry and all visitors to the building, regardless of whether they are voting or there for some other business, will be required to pass through a metal detector. Additionally, voters in precinct six who regularly vote at Eastminster Presbyterian Church will be temporarily relocated to the ELHCC due to construction at the church.
