** Albert EL Fresco Grand Reopening to Take Place Thursday, May 12
------------------------------------------------------------

Community members are reminded that the grand reopening of the Albert EL Fresco pedestrian-friendly area will take place on Thursday, May 12, beginning at 4 p.m. in the heart of downtown East Lansing.

The Albert EL Fresco area will be located on Albert Avenue, between Abbot Road and M.A.C. Avenue, and community members are invited to celebrate its return for the summer at the grand reopening event.

The grand reopening event will include a variety of games and activities, including ping-pong, cornhole and Giant Chess. The event will also include live performances in the Albert EL Fresco area and other adjacent downtown East Lansing areas. The performance lineup is as follows:
* 5 p.m. - The Swift Brothers in Ann Street Plaza (corner of Albert and M.A.C. avenues)
* 6 p.m. – Cultural Explosion in Albert EL Fresco
* 7 p.m. – The Carlos Perez Band in Ann Street Plaza

Additionally, community members will have the opportunity to visit the East Lansing Public Library’s mobile pop-up library in the Albert EL Fresco area from 4-6 p.m.

The grand reopening event is just the beginning of a fun-filled summer at Albert EL Fresco. Throughout the summer, community members will be able to enjoy the area’s outdoor seating and tables, shade amenities, hammocks, decorative lighting and outdoor games. A variety of programs will also be hosted throughout the summer in the space, including game nights, outdoor yoga, live music and more.

Community members will also have the opportunity to participate in a new program this summer, called Take-Out Tuesdays. Every Tuesday beginning May 31, community members who order take-out from a participating downtown business and enjoy it in the Albert EL Fresco space will have their name entered into a drawing to win a $100 DNA eGift Card (https://app.yiftee.com/gift-card/east-lansing) . Community members can visit www.cityofeastlansing.com/AlbertELFresco to learn more about how to participate in Take-Out-Tuesdays! Also, during Take-Out Tuesdays, several downtown East Lansing retail and service businesses will be selling their goods and services from market tents set up in the Albert EL Fresco space.

Community members are reminded that both lanes of Albert Avenue, from just east of the Albert Avenue Garage’s entry/exit to M.A.C. Avenue, will be closed to traffic beginning Tuesday, May 10 to accommodate the Albert EL Fresco space setup.

The Albert Avenue Garage, 188 Albert Ave., will remain accessible to eastbound Albert Avenue traffic from Abbot Road and the Grove Street Garage, 330 Grove St., will remain accessible to northbound and southbound Abbot Road traffic by taking Linden Street to Grove Street. Additional downtown parking information is available at www.cityofeastlansing.com/parkingdowntown.

To keep up-to-date on the latest Albert EL Fresco happenings, community members are encouraged to visit www.cityofeastlansing.com/AlbertELFresco.

** 54B District Court to Offer Parking Fee Reduction Program this May
------------------------------------------------------------

The East Lansing 54B District Court, 101 Linden Street, will be offering a Parking Fee Reduction Program throughout the month of May. The Parking Fee Reduction Program provides vehicle owners with unpaid parking tickets an opportunity to resolve their tickets at a 50% reduced rate. The parking tickets must be issued by the City of East Lansing or Michigan State University to participate in the program. Exclusions to the program include current wage assignments, current income tax garnishments and meter violations that are paid by the next business day.

Community members who are interested in participating in the program must contact the Court to process payment. Payments that are made without contacting the Court will not be considered to participate in the program. Vehicle owners can pay their parking tickets in person at the Court during business hours: Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m. Payments can also be made over the phone by calling the Court’s Parking Division at (517) 351-7022.

Background Information
The amount due for unpaid parking tickets can be considerably higher than the original fine because of court costs that are added after the due date. If a parking ticket is not paid by the due date, it’s the Court’s responsibility to collect the payment and the vehicle owner may be ordered to appear in court to explain why the payment hasn’t been made. Additionally, if the owner fails to appear in court, a bench warrant is issued for the owner's arrest due to his/her failure to appear in court as ordered. Vehicle owners are then subject to arrest for outstanding bench warrants. To help the Court close and remove files from its records as well as obtain compliance with its orders, the Court provides vehicle owners an opportunity to pay their tickets at a discounted rate.

"The Parking Fee Reduction Program gives vehicle owners an incentive to satisfy their obligations to the Court,” said East Lansing 54B District Court Chief Judge Richard Ball.

** DMB Welcomes More Than Vintage to Downtown East Lansing
------------------------------------------------------------

The East Lansing Downtown Management Board (DMB) is pleased to welcome More Than Vintage (MTV) to downtown East Lansing.

This new downtown East Lansing business, located at 108 Division St., is owned and operated by Michigan State University students and sells a hand-curated selection of vintage inspired clothing and shoes. Customers can also buy, sell and trade clothing, purchase a cup of self-serve espresso, grab a vending machine snack or challenge a friend to an arcade game.

In addition to being a brick-and-mortar business, MTV serves as a local hub where students and community members can express their creativity.

“More Than Vintage is a next level of innovation convenience store built solely by college students in the hope of breaking all stereotypes and empowering the youth and millennials to become themselves and believe in themselves,” said MTV Owner Louis Azor. “We mixed the idea of fashion, which includes streetwear and shoes, and added a local hub where anyone can come relax, study and feel like a kid again with the unique architectural design setup that we have.”

Community members are encouraged to check out MTV, which is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-midnight. Community members can learn more about MTV at www.mtvmsu.com (http://www.mtvmsu.com/) .
