** Construction Updates: Getting Around Town
------------------------------------------------------------
U.S. 127 will be in its current configuration, with occasional short-term ramp and lane closures, until mid-June. Both the Jolly Road and Mount Hope Avenue overpasses were demolished last weekend and are beginning reconstruction. The closure of eastbound I-496 to northbound U.S. 127 at Kalamazoo and Homer streets should be reopened after today (March 28).

Forest Road at U.S. 127 will be closed all day on Saturday, March 29 for a partial bridge demolition. Detours will be posted; however, motorists should expect delays and are advised to seek alternate routes.

** Community Celebrated in Art Installation at City Hall
------------------------------------------------------------
This week the City was pleased to host the family and friends of late artist John Neering at the dedication of his sculpture, entitled "Community."

"Community" was originally commissioned for the City's 100th anniversary in 2007 and placed at Valley Court Park. However, the pieces began to suffer deterioration from exposure to the elements and were removed and placed in storage until last fall when the East Lansing Arts Commission allocated funds for their restoration. That work was done by Mike Ouderkirk from 508 Fab, Machining and V-twin Performance in St. Johns.

** “Dad was honored when East Lansing originally purchased his piece. He’d be so pleased to see this total refurbishment and the new location,” said Jan Neering, John Neering’s daughter.
------------------------------------------------------------
Please note that the City Hall elevator will be out of order for a monthlong modernization project beginning Monday, April 21. Learn more here (https://www.cityofeastlansing.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2287) .
